The city of Campbell, CA, is located in the southern portion of the Santa Clara Valley, home to more than 40,000 Bay Area residents across almost six square miles of land. The community was founded in 1851 and officially incorporated as a city more than a century later, in 1952.
Campbell consisted mostly of orchard land in the town’s early years, though this has changed in recent decades with modern urban development. As the original home of eBay, Campbell now hosts a number of well-known companies and startups, while continuing to thrive as primarily a suburban residential community. Highway 17 passes through the eastern portion of town, not far from Campbell’s historic downtown district and the popular Los Gatos Creek Park. Campbell takes pride in being a diverse community with rich political history.
